Positive results in tourism sector
Over recent years, the tourism sector has played a vital role in promoting Da Nang’s progress.

The city has been highly applauded by domestic and foreign tourism experts and visitors from both home and abroad for its modern, synchronous, and convenient transport hubs.
In particular, the city’s international airport now has a total of 11 scheduled and 9 charter international routes, which leads to an average of 100 domestic and international flights in and out of the airport every day. In 2016, a total of 900,000 visitors from both home and abroad arrived or departed from there, up 66.4% against 2015.
In addition, the local sea port is now able to welcome large international cruise ships, and these have brought thousands of foreign passengers to the city.
Most notably, Genting Dream, a cruise ship of the Hong Kong-based luxury cruise line Dream Cruises carrying 2,300 international passengers, berthed at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port for the first time on 10 November, and it now visits the city every Tuesday.
In 2016, Da Nang welcomed a total of 58 cruise ships with a total of over 81,000 foreign passengers, a 3.6-fold increase against last year. In total, the city received 5.51 million visitors from both home and abroad, up 17.7% against 2015 and exceeding the year’s target by 7.2%. 1.66 million were foreigners, up 31.6%, whilst the number of domestic travellers increased by 12.5%.
The city is targeting to welcome a total of 6.1 million domestic and foreign visitors next year, including 1.9 million foreigners.
To date, 83 tourism projects, worth more than 7.3 billion USD in total, have been implemented in Da Nang, of which 20 have been invested into by foreigners, with a total capital of 1.28 billion USD. In addition, the city is now home to numerous renowned international-standard luxury vacation establishments, including the Fusion Maia Resort, Intercontinental, Hyatt Regency Danang Resort & Spa, Vinpearl Luxury Da Nang, Grand Mercure Danang Hotel, and Risemount Resort.
Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Ngo Quang Vinh remarked, “In attempting to develop more new tourism products, my department will make every effort to ensure the on-schedule implementation of local tourism projects. Included are the Lang Van tourism area, community-based eco-tourism in Thai Lai Village, and model cultural villages for tourism in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages.
Mr Huynh Tan Vinh, Chairman of the municipal Travel Association cum General Director of Furama Resort Danang, underlined the need for the city to promote innovations in training qualified tourism employees in order to ensure the sustainable development of the local tourism sector.
