Revenue from transport sector up 13.4%
During 2016, the Da Nang Department of Transport earned 8,713 billion VND in revenue, exceeding the year’s target by 13.4%. In particular, the total volume of cargo transported through the Da Nang Port increased by 10.9% to reach 7.1 million tons, exceeding its set target by 2.9%.
Also last year, a total of 5 intra-city bus routes offering subsidised ticket fares started to operate in the city. In addition, the Da Nang and Quang Nam Province authorities together launched the first BRT-standard sub-route, R1, which links Da Nang International Airport to Hoi An’s Le Hong Phong Street.
The Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue provincial authorities jointly conducted research into developing inter-provincial bus routes between their localities.
Also, 6 2-way streets have been converted into one-way streets, whilst 4-wheeled vehicles have been regulated to park along 16 sections of local streets either on odd or even dates. Ninety-seven traffic accident hotspots in the city have been upgraded.
