Welcoming for first international air passengers of the year
On Sunday morning, the Da Nang Department of Tourism held a ceremony at the city's International Airport to welcome the first 150 international air passengers to set foot in the city on New Year's Day. They arrived at 10.30am on a direct Silk Air-operated flight MI632 from Singapore.

Amongst the foreign first footers were Mr Ross Parker and his wife Mrs Corrine Parker, both from Australia.
Mr Parker said that he felt very happy to visit the city for the first time. He added that he and his wife would visit some of the local popular attractions, and Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City, before leaving for Singapore.
Mrs Parker expressed her delight at the warm welcome by representatives from the Department of Tourism. She also hoped that she and her husband would have a very happy and meaningful trip in Da Nang.
The Department’s Deputy Director, Mr Nguyen Xuan Binh, remarked “2017 will be a special year of Da Nang where many important events will be held. The city is, therefore, developing plans for implementing numerous tourism promotion programmes, and promoting the opening of new direct flights between Da Nang and foreign countries.
In particular, a new direct flight route from Da Nang to the Asia-Pacific region will be opened in the first quarter of this year. A ‘Smile of Da Nang’ campaign will be launched soon in the hope of enhancing the friendly attitude of local residents towards domestic and foreign visitors.”
Also on the same day, 2 flights, operated by Jin Air and T'way Air, from South Korea’s Incheon City, carrying over 300 passengers in total, landed at Da Nang International Airport. The 2 low-cost airlines operated their direct South Korea - Da Nang services in 2016.
