In particular, the price per kg of free-range chickens has reduced by up to 10,000 VND to between 140,000 VND and 180,000 VND, whilst that of farmed chickens has decreased by 5,000 VND to up to 65,000 VND.  Meanwhile, the price per kg of ‘cha heo’ (grilled pork pate) has fallen by 10,000 VND to between 120,000 VND and 170,000 VND, depending on the type.  In addition, saltwater fish prices have also reduced by between 5,000 VND and 7,000 VND per kg because many of the local fishing vessels have already returned from post-Tet trips.

The prices of various types of vegetable and fruit have also fallen slightly.  In detail, the price per kg of mustard greens is now between 15,000 VND and 20,000 VND, Da Lat-grown salad between 22,000 VND and 40,000 VND, whilst Da Lat-grown potatoes and carrots are up to 35,000 VND and 25,000 VND respectively.

In addition, best oranges are cheaper by around 5,000 VND at 35,000 VND per kg, whilst the price of bananas grown in southern localities has reduced dramatically due to the low market consumption of the product.

According to the Management Board of the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the volume of vegetables and fruits transported to this market is now 150 tons and 130 tons respectively per day, a decrease of 40% against the same period last month.
