The Da Nang People’s Committee recently approved for the implementation of an organic vegetable supply programme over the 2017 - 2021 period in the city.
Funded by Belgium’s Vredeseilanden - Coopibo organisation, the over 92,700 EUR programme will be implemented by the Women’s Union, the Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the Bureau of Cultivation and Plant Protection, in Da Nang.
In detail, over 36,400 EUR of the total Belgian fund will go to the Women’s Union, over 11,000 EUR to the Union of Science and Technology Associations, and the remainder to the Bureau of Cultivation and Plant Protection.
The programme is scheduled to be implemented from May 2017 to December 2021.
The intention of the programme is to facilitate the development of the organic vegetable supply chain in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, as well as to make Da Nang a smart food city. In addition, small vegetable growers in the city will find it easy to join the such chain, and local customers will easily access safe food.
In addition, the municipal PC has agreed to participate in the ‘Food for the Cities’ network which is run by VECO Vietnam.
