Coca-Cola Da Nang pours additional nearly 5 million USD into its warehouse and waste water treatment

On Monday, Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Ltd (Coca-Cola Vietnam) held a ceremony to announce the completion of the company’s additional investment of 300 million USD in Viet Nam during the 2013-2016 period. In particular, an ameliorated waste water treatment system which features state-of-the-art equipment and most advanced technology, along with a new warehouse were put into operation at the Da Nang branch of Coca-Cola Vietnam. This is considered as a milestone marking the fulfillment of the company’s project.  Moreover, it is another demonstration of the company’s strong commitments to sustainable investment in Viet Nam, setting business development goals that go in paralell with positive impacts to the community.

Da Nang factory now has 4 manufacturing lines with cutting-edge technology. During the course of development, the plant has been continuously upgraded with smart, environment-friendly technologies and qualified with a series of stringent certificates of Viet Nam and the world. The total investment for upgrading Da Nang plant’s warehouse and waste water treatment system edged up to nearly 5 million USD. The new warehouse with total area of 4,800 square meters and a capacity of 4,000 pallets, which can be further developed into a smart warehouse to store up to 8,000 pallets. The warehouse is equipped with energy-efficient LED lighting and automatic check in-check out system .

The plant’s innovative waste water treatment system is upgraded with Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) Filtration Systems featuring superior advantages, ensuring discharged waste water meeting A-grade quality which exceeds current required standards. In addition, the waste water treatment system with a designed capacity of 1,000 m3/day and upgradable to 1,500 m3/day is well installed for better noise reduction, automatic controlling and monitoring, and optimised energy efficiency during the treatment process. All the specifications and waste water quality parameters are collected to an online control center for storage and synchronisation to ensure required quality standards.

Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien said: “With the goal of becoming one of the largest city of the country, Da Nang always focuses on developing its economy and enhancing its environment protection. The city authorities always encourage and ask domestic and foreign business  operating here to protect the local environment. We highly appreciate the commitments of Coca-Cola over the past 2 decades of its operation in the city.  The focus was on building the company’s long-term goal of not only promoting the city’s economic development but also bringing the better living environment to the community.  These are remarkable activities which should be kept up.”

The event also witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Coca-Cola Vietnam and the Ho Chi Minh-based University of Industry on a program that provides clean and safe drinking water to Da Nang’s pupils.  Under this agreement, a total of 65 drinking water filtration systems totaling 520,000 USD will be installed at junior and senior high schools across the city. This is considered as an active move of Coca-Cola Vietnam in fulfilling its commitment to sustainable development and offering practical values to the community.
