Measures needed to develop special tourism products

DA NANG Today
Published: November 03, 2017

Given the context of a growing number of foreign visitors to Da Nang in recent years, the city is now focusing on developing many new and special tourism products.  This, thereby, encourages domestic and foreign visitors to extend their stay periods here, return again later, and recommend Da Nang to others.

By the end of this year, Da Nang is likely to have welcomed 6.2 million visitors in total, over 2 million of whom are foreigners.

Most notably, 3 and 5 star hotels now account for a large proportion of the total accommodation establishments in the city.

The Deputy General Director of Empire Group, Mr Trinh Viet Hung, remarked that Da Nang is now facing a shortage of night-time relaxation and entertainment areas, and large-scale shopping and cuisine areas as well.  In a similar vein, the city is also in need of periodic high-quality arts programmes attractive to visitors arriving in the city.

Fully concurring with Mr Hung’s remark, Mr Nguyen Quang Hai, the Head of Project Development Division of Sun Group, noted that the effective operation of the areas mentioned above in deed is increasingly attracting visitors from both home and aboard to raise their spending in the city.

Mr Hai underscored the need for Da Nang to take the advantage of its natural gifts, including beaches, rivers and mountains, to create new attractive tourism products in order for visitors to experience unforgettable moments during their stay in the beautiful locality.

Alongside, more effective measures should be taken to promote the city’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Exhibition) tourism which might generate high revenues to local tourism businesses.

Mr Cao Tri Dung, the Chairman of Da Nang Travel Association, proposed that focus should be developing such marine tourism products as yachts, adventure sailing, ocean explorations, squid fishing at night, and diving to explore the coral reefs.  Greater efforts should be made to develop a wide range of water sports including parasailing, jet skiing, surfboarding, and banana boat riding.

It is a good idea to effectively combine sea with mountain tourism, for instance the Hai Van tourist area - Truong Dinh River - Da Nang Bay tour.

Special heed should be paid to boost the progress of MICE, eco-tourism, and heritage, festival and marine tourism in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
