Over recent years, many of the made-in-Hoa Vang District agricultural products have won the strong trust of local consumers. Most notable amongst them are Hoa Tien Commune’s breed rice, Cam Ne and Tuy Loan organic vegetables, plus La Chau and Nhon Phuon mushrooms.

The suburban district is now home to a total of 14 agricultural cooperatives. In particular, a total of over 50 State budget-funded animal husbandry and plant cultivation models have been implemented effectively in the district.
Many dedicated organic and safe vegetable growing areas, meeting the Viet Nam Good Agricultural Practices (VietGap) standards, have been established in a bid to satisfy the local growing demand for healthy and fresh food products.
Such agricultural products as red-skinned dragon fruit with red flesh, guava, green-skinned pomelos, and straw mushroom, have also affirmed their position in the local market.
Ms Ngo Thi Hanh, the Deputy Head of the district Agriculture and Rural Development Office, said that the city’s departments of Industry and Trade, and Science and Technology are now jointly completing necessary administrative procedures free-of-charge for the district to build brand names for local agricultural products.
Deputy Head Hanh also pointed out the fact that the building of brands should be based on a closer link amongst farmers, State management agencies, scientists and businesses in a bid to help local consumer access high-quality products in an easier and more effective manner.
In July, a nearly 9,000m2 growing area was established under the management of the Hoa Vang Fruit and Vegetable Cooperative, to deliver fresh and healthy produce at affordable prices to local consumers.
Such types of vegetables as cucumbers, cantaloupes, Japanese chilies, Da Lat bell peppers in many colours are grown in greenhouses fully equipped with electrical and automatic irrigation systems. Lettuces and other kinds of vegetables are produced with the application of hydroponic growing methods.
The Cooperative’s Director, Mr Nguyen Thang, remarked that, samples taken from his establishment’s agricultural products have been sent to quality assurance and testing centres in Da Lat to test whether or not they contain prohibited substances. The results showed that these samples meet the national food safety and hygiene standards.
Currently, the district authorities are focusing on assisting the Cooperative in expanding its consumer markets through appealing for the consumption of its agricultural products by such popular shopping areas as BigC Mall and Mega Market Da Nang.
