The chill in the air at the advent of winter has sent locals rushing for warm clothes in different shopping venues in the city.  Local traders, therefore, are now making the most of the opportunities the inclement weather offers.

It is common that many local shops selling winter stuff including woolen caps, sweaters, socks and warm clothes are now crowded with shoppers.

Ms Nguyen Thi Bich Loan, a local trader of winter clothing and accessories at the Dong Da Market said that her stand has seen a high consumption by local consumers of warm clothes because of their eye-catching colorful designs and reasonable prices.

A wide range of products on sale have been sourced from Ho Chi Minh City, and other such foreign countries as Thailand and China.

A secondhand selling area on Trieu Nu Vuong, over recent days of frigid weather, has also seen busy trading activities.  Thick leather jackets and coats are most preferred by a large number of shoppers there.

A trader touting business at this area happily revealed that, every day, he sells between 40 and 50 winter coats of different sizes, designs and colours.  Each of these items is priced between 100,000 VND and 500,000VND.

Positively, no cases of the overcharging of shoppers have been to date reported at this secondhand selling area.

In addition to warm clothes, winter accessories including woolen caps, gloves, socks and ankle-high boots are amongst the best-sellers at many local stores.

Taking the advantage of good demand of winter stuff, apart from shops, roadside vendors are also doing a roaring business of warm-apparel along such local streets of Nguyen Luong Bang and Ton Duc Thang in Lien Chieu District, and routes leading to the Hoa Khanh and Hoa Cam industrial parks.

The prices of winter clothes on sale at these makeshift locations are usually much lower than similar items on display at shops in the city centre.  Therefore, their price tags are well within the reach of ordinary citizens, especially low-income earners, workers and students.

In a similar vein, many local pharmacies and cosmetic stores are also offering a wide range of winter beauty care products at reasonable prices.  Included are anti-cracking cream products nourishing moisturizing hydrating elastic hand foot skin care, and colourless lip balms lipstick.

Many electronics shops have also seen a high consumption by locals of such products as fan heaters, clothes dryers and electric bath water heaters.  Products of such brands as Electrolux, Ariston, Kangaroo, PeKo, Sunhouse and Asia are the most favourite.
