Extra trains, flights and coaches for Tet

Domestic air carriers, along with road and railway transport companies will increase their services to meet the growing travel demand of residents and visitors over the upcoming Tet Festival.

In detail, Vietnam Railways will operate 15 pairs of trains travelling on North-South route, and one pair each from Ho Chi Minh City to Quang Ngai Province and Quy Nhon City every day.

During Tet week (15-21 February) there will be 7 pairs of trains on Ha Noi – Ho Chi Minh City route.

The Head of the ticketing team at the Da Nang railway station, Mr Pham Ngoc Thanh remarked that the trains, coded SE21 and SE22, will run between Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City from 3 February to 4 March.

“To meet the increasing travel demands of travellers from Da Nang to northern localities, train SE32 will be added to the schedule, and it will depart at 3.00pm on 12 and 13 February.  In addition, an extra train D1 will depart at 5.15pm on 19 February to carry passengers from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh City.”, he added.

Passengers can book their train tickets via telephone, in person directly from the station, or on the following websites: http://www.dsvn.vn, http://www.duongsathanoi.com/ and http://www.vetau.com.vn.

As for air transportation, Vietnam Airlines will have extra more than 1,100 flights with a total of around 220,000 seats between 31 January and 2 March.  In particular, the number of flights between Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City will go up by 212 over the holiday.

In addition, before Tet, a total of 530 coaches will operate to transport passengers from the city to northern and central highlands localities.  Moreover, another 260 ones will depart from Da Nang to the cities of Hue, Dong Ha and Quy Nhon, and the provinces of Quang Ngai and Quang Nam.  After Tet, there will be 79 coaches in total to carry passengers from the city to southern localities.

Currently, 37 ticketing counters at the city’s inter-provincial coach station are selling tickets for Tet.  The prices of tickets have been increased by up to 70% against normal days.
