The positive result has been mainly attributed to the advanced infrastructure, diversified accommodation services and wonderful attractions.  In particular, the tourism sector has made great efforts in boosting its tourism promotion activities, with a focus on conducting researches into foreign tourist markets to attract more visitors from such countries as South Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, Western Europe, Australia, and India.

Mr Nguyen Duc Quynh, Deputy General Director of the Furama Resort Danang, remarked that the city has received a large number of South Korean and Chinese visitors, but the volume of visitor groups involved in MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism is still modest.  He, therefore, higlighted the importance of fostering the progress of MICE and advertising local advanced infrastructure system to international tourists.

Mr Nguyen Van Duan, CEO of the Muong Thanh Luxury Danang Hotel, underlined the significance of boosting MICE tourism promotion and advertisement activities during the city’s winter season.  The intention is to ensure the balance of the number of tourist arrivals to the city in winter and other seasons of the year.

Mr Tran Luc, Deputy Director of the city’s branch of the Saigontourist travel company, remarked “Da Nang is emerging as an ideal destination for cruise ship passengers thanks to its high-quality tourism services.  However, the city has yet to effectively advertise its tourism images to these visitors.  Therefore, the focus should be on furthering the advertisement activities of the local beautiful tourism images to international friends to attract more visitors”.

Chairman of the municipal Travel Association Cao Tri Dung highlighted the important role played by accommodation businesses in fostering the tourism promotion activities to help the city receive even more domestic and foreign tourists in the years ahead.

Mr Ngo Quang Vinh, Director of the Department of Tourism, remarked that the local tourism sector is striving to earn around 22,500 billion VND in revenue from tourism by welcoming a total of 7.47 million visitors by the end of this year, up 13.9% against 2017.

The focus will be ensuring the successful organisation of large-scale international events, including the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival from April to June, the VNG Ironman 70.3 Viet Nam in May, and the Da Nang International Marathon in August.

In addition, importance will be attached to further advertising local specialities to domestic and foreign visitors to the city, and ensuring effective tourism cooperation between Da Nang, Thua Thien-Hue Province and Quang Nam Province.  Also, heed will be paid to attracting more groups of farmtrip and international presstrip to the city to survey and write articles about the local attractions and its tourism products.

Greater effort will be also made to increasing mutual information exchange with potential tourism markets, including France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, and India.

Furthermore, attention will be paid to promoting the application of IT in tourism communications, and raising public awareness about the significance of tourism activities in the city’s progress.

Special attention will be paid to developing even more attractive tourism products to meet the diversified demands of domestic and foreign visitors.  In addition, importance will be attached to establishing a fund to support the development of the tourism sector, aiming to facilitate the local tourism businesses to create their own products and enhance their quality of services.
