The 4-lane route, developed on the build-transfer (BT) basis, is part of the 3,183 km-long Ho Chi Minh Highway which runs through a total of 28 Vietnamese localities.  The national highway starts in northern Cao Bang Province and ends in the southernmost Ca Mau Province.

Work started on the about 11 trillion VND La Son-Tuy Loan project in 2015.

The project costs are financed by loans from the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) which is Japan’s largest bank.

Stretching a total of 77 km, the route begins in La Son Town, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien-Hue Province, and ends at the intersection with the Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway in Da Nang’s Tuy Loan Village.

The biggest obstacle to the construction progress of the La Son-Tuy Loan Expressway is site clearance and compensation work.

As part of this route, the clearance of only 1.88km out of the entire length of 11.5km of the Hoa Lien-Tuy Loan section has been to date completed.

In an attempt to handle these issues, during his recent inspection trip, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh gave the go-ahead to the withdrawal of forest and agricultural land that had been reclaimed for the work in order to build frontage roads at both sides of the whole La Son-Tuy Loan route.

The management broad of the La Son-Tuy Loan route is working closely with the local authorities to accelerate the clearance and compensation work, thereby ensuring the on-schedule implementation of this large-scale project.

According to the leaders of the Ministry of Transport, the early completion of the project will help to promote its functionality in expanding the transport links amongst key central regional economic hubs, boosting the city’s socio-economic progress, and ensuring closer links with other localities in Central Viet Nam, and the country as a whole.
