Taking steps to ensure sustainable tourism
Importance should be attached to ensuring the sustainable development of Da Nang’s tourism, thereby helping to accelerate the city’s socio-economic growth rate in the years ahead.

This was one of the direct instructions delivered by municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia at his meeting on Wednesday with other city leaders and representatives from the municipal Department of Tourism.
The city Party chief asked the Department of Tourism to closely coordinate with other relevant local agencies to appeal for more domestic and foreign investment into the tourism sector in the coming years.
Notably, it is a high time to create more locally-made tourism products in order to satisfy the diversified tastes of visitors to the city, especially foreigners.
Furthermore, effective measures should be taken to tighten the State management of travel activities and the performance of tour guides.
Another point of attention should be paid to assisting local tourism businesses to enhance their products and service quality, and promote win-win cooperation amongst them for the sake of their mutual development.
The city top leader also pointed out to the fact that, recent years have seen the growing number of domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in the city. Therefore, it is necessary to enhance tourism services and infrastructure systems so as to better serve them.
In particular, Secretary Nghia urged the departments of Tourism, and Industry and Trade, to conduct their research into the establishment of night-time entertainment areas in a bid to encourage visitors to extend their stay periods in the city.
Also at the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan emphasised a must-do for relevant local agencies to promote the publicity of locally-created tourism products which play a decisive role in the success of this spearhead economic sector.
Alongside, heed should be paid to boosting bilateral tourism cooperation programmes with neighbouring provinces of Thua Thien- Hue and Quang Nam.
In his remarks, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung underlined the importance of making necessary adjustments to the operation of the tourism sector in the years ahead in line with the city’s general planning structure.
Last, but not least, it is also essential to develop high-quality human resources involved in the tourism sector.
