Many hotels fully booked for DIFF 2018
With about 3 weeks to go to the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2018, the majority of 3-5 star hotels in the city’s prime locations are saying that they are already fully booked.
The existing number of the hotel rooms can still meet the growing accommodation demand from visitors during the upcoming fireworks festival. |
Local accommodation providers are increasing their room rates by between 2 and 3 times above normal over the forthcoming festival period.
Given the high room occupancy rates, there are only several vacant rooms available at hotels along such popular streets as Tran Hung Dao, Vo Nguyen Giap, Duong Dinh Nghe and Ho Nghinh in Son Tra District.
Room rates at a hotel on Tran Hung Dao street, on the eastern bank of the Han River, now stand at 1.5 million VND per room per night, which double their normal prices.
Like hotels, motels along this popular street have increased their room rates over the DIFF period.
The majority of hotels along a local street are already fully booked. |
A hotel on Vo Nguyen Giap consists of 124 rooms in total, but now, there are only about 20 rooms left idle for potential bookings in 29 and 30 April, and 1 May.
In a similar vein, seaside resorts state there are no rooms left.
As many as 300 rooms catering for a total of between 600 and 700 occupants at the 5-star Furama Resort Danang are now fully booked, and the average prices of these rooms are now 6 million VND per room per night.
The opening night of DIFF 2017 (30 April) will coincide with the National Reunification Day (30 April) and International Labour Day (1 May) public holidays on which public servants are allowed to be off from work.
According to the municipal Tourism Department’s Accommodation Service Management Division, the number of tourist arrivals to the city is expected to increase significantly during the upcoming period, especially the opening night of DIFF 2017, compared with last year.
According to local travel agencies, there is an upward trend in the number of bookings for tours over the DIFF period.
Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, the Deputy General Director of the city-based Vitours, said the volume of domestic visitors booking tours through his travel agency has climbed by about 10%, whilst foreigners with about 50% up.
Some tourism experts affirmed that the existing number of the hotel rooms can still meet the growing accommodation demand from visitors during the upcoming fireworks festival.
Importance will also be attached to ensuring local accommodation providers display the room rates on the municipal Finance Department-operated software.
In particular, relevant agencies will conduct more inspections of tourism service providers to ensure effective management of the prices of their accommodation, passenger transport, catering and parking services.
Any violations detected will be dealt with in a timely fashion, and heavy fines will be imposed.
