Over recent years, Da Nang has taken various effective measures to diversify its tourism products but what the city needs more is to have more support services catering for this lucrative sector.

Many tourism experts pointed out to the fact that the city is now facing a severe shortage of tourism support services; hence, the city finds it very hard to encourage domestic and foreign tourist to extend their stay periods and their spending here as well.

Mr Nguyen Si Cuong, an overseas Vietnamese doing business in Da Nang, underlined the significance of continuing identifying tourism as spearhead economic sector in a bid to build a diverse ‘tourism ecosystem’.

In detail, tourism should be accompanied by such ‘satellite services’ as international standard education and healthcare.

It is common to realise that recent years have seen a growing number of visitors to the city, not only for the purpose of travelling, but also for enjoying healthcare services and seeking investment opportunities in this seaside locality.

He hoped that Da Nang would become a modern, smart, livable, global city where his clients will want to stay in the many years ahead.

Mr Le Minh Phuc, the General Director of VinaCapital Da Nang, remarked it is high time to develop professional tourism support services, especially catering for high-end hospitality segments, so as to satisfy the demand of an increasing number of big investors worldwide who choose Da Nang for their business expansions.

The overseas Vietnamese businessman also noted that Da Nang is now in desperate need of cultural spaces attractive to domestic and foreign visitors.

For instance, the city is home to many time-honoured traditional craft villages. These venues would not be attractive if services for tourists there are not taken good care of.

Taking the advantage of the growing investment inflows into such neighbouring localities as Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces, many businesses in Da Nang have developed their business ideas in an attempt to boost the progress of the city’s tourism support services.

The city-based VN Da Thanh Services JSC, for instance, has completed the purchase of a series of super cars to offer transits for visitors from the Da Nang International Airport to popular attractions inside and outside the city.

In the coming time, the municipal Department of Tourism will continue appealing for domestic and foreign investment in the creation of night-time markets and entertainment areas, pedestrian promenades, large-scale shopping-cuisine-entertainment complexes, inland waterway tourism venues, and souvenir shops at local attractions.
