Under the detailed plan, covering an area of 11,821m2, the extended section will start at land lot A1.1 owned by the Ha Noi-headquartered Thang Long Air Service Corporation, near the western approach road to the bridge.

The route will then pass through a parking area on Phan Dang Luu located between the Asia Park and the Children’s Cultural Palace, and it will end at a section of Phan Dang Luu, in front of the Tien Son Sports Arena.

In order to build the extended section, 6,301m2 from the Asia Park and 1,890m2 from the Children’s Cultural Palace will be taken back.

Once this project is put into use, there will be 2 streets paralleling the 2 September Street on its both sides, namely the extended Bach Dang and Nui Thanh.

This, thereby, is expected to considerably ease the current traffic congestion in inner areas, especially the heavy traffic flow travelling along the Tran Thi Ly Bridge from its eastern to western ends.

Furthermore, the municipal Construction Planning Institute is mulling over the building of an only 100-long road connecting the end point of the extended section of Bach Dang on Phan Dang Luu with Thang Long which is a riverside route stretching from the western end of the Tien Son Bridge towards Cam Le District.

Mr Le Tu Gia Thanh, the Head of the municipal Construction Planning Institute, underlined the importance of the building of this short path in helping to considerably ease the traffic flow along not only 2 September Street, but also Cach Mang Thang Tam Street.
