Daegu eyes more Vietnamese visitors
A seminar entitled ‘Daegu Tourism Night’ took place in Da Nang last Friday, aiming to attract more Vietnamese visitors to Daegu City, South Korea. The event was jointly organised by the Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) in Viet Nam, and the Korean City authorities.

At the event, a total of over 80 representatives from travel companies, airlines and media agencies in Da Nang were introduced to information about cuisine, popular attractions, and shopping centres in Daegu City.
Mr Kim Seung-su, Vice Mayor of Daegu City, remarked that Viet Nam ranks top in Southeast Asia for the number of tourist arrivals to South Korea, with over 320,000 arriving in this country last year. As of late April, the number of Vietnamese tourist arrivals to South Korea climbed by over 40% compared with the same period last year to hit more than 124,000. Da Nang also hosted nearly 90,000 Korean visitors in total last year.
Vice Mayor Kim highlighted the important role of travel agencies in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, to develop more new tours to attract more Vietnamese travellers to South Korea in the years ahead. He also underlined the significance of creating more suitable tours to satisfy the interests of South Korea travellers in a bid to make Da Nang more inviting to them.
Daegu is the 3rd largest city in South Korea. The city boasts beautiful natural scenery of four seasons, diversified cuisine, convenient transport network, numerous traditional and modern cultural festivals, and attractive shopping centres.
