The city boasts its modern and synchronous infrastructure. In particular, there have been a total of 14 scheduled and 13 charter direct international routes connecting Da Nang with other destinations worldwide, together offering 233 flights per weeks in total. Thanks to this, the city hosted over 1.58 million air passengers last year, representing a 74% increase against 2016.
Also, during last year, the city received a total of 120,000 passengers from 78 cruise ship arrivals, a rise of 46% against 2016. This was partly attributed to the regular visits of cruise ship Genting Dream of the Hong Kong-based luxury cruise line Dream Cruises which has a maximum capacity of over 3,400 passengers.
In 2015, Da Nang was named amongst the top 10 most attractive destinations in Asia by the readers of Smart Travel Asia, the leading regional online travel magazine. The city boasts its 5-star luxury seaside resorts offering international-standard services, and such beautiful beaches with their soft white sand and clear blue water as My Khe and Non Nuoc. Most notably, the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort has been honoured as the World’s Leading Luxury Resort over 4 consecutive years.
The city is now home to 712 accommodation establishments with a total of 29,735 rooms. 20 of them are 5-star hotels, with 5,466 rooms in total. They all meet the required demand of visitors from both home and abroad. Many hotels along Pham Van Dong, Hoang Sa, Ha Bong and Ho Nghinh are preferred by visitors due to their convenient locations near beaches and inner-city areas.
A spokesperson for the municipal Department of Tourism affirmed that the improved infrastructure has made Da Nang more inviting to domestic and foreign visitors. Hopefully, the tourism sector will achieve even more success this year in a bid to consolidate the city’s leading position in the central region, and to affirm its position as a safe and friendly destination for visitors from both home and abroad.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, there are now a total of 199 restaurants and 4,228 eating and drinking establishments in the city.
Da Nang Chefs Club Chairman Tran Van Thong said that his club has a total of 350 members who are professional chefs at restaurants, hotels and tourist areas across the city. There are around 700 professionally trained chefs in total in the city who can cook a wide range of delicious dishes from Viet Nam, and Asian and European countries. Thanks to their great efforts and their professionalism, the city’s cuisine has become an effective channel to advertise the city’s image to international friends.
In the future, more new and attractive tourism products will be developed in the city to satisfy the growing demand of visitors. Included will be night-time entertainment, shopping and eating and drinking areas, plus periodic enchanting arts programmes.
