Seeking ways to make more tourism breakthroughs
A seminar took place in Da Nang on Monday to discuss the city’s tourism development strategies based on the constructive recommendations by Roland Berger, which is the only leading global consultancy of German heritage and European origin.
The Marble Mountains Tourist Area is attracting growing number of visitors. |
After over a month of meticulous research, Roland Berger has given accurate and reliable assessments of the local tourism sector, especially in terms of travel packages, tour guides, entry processes, accommodations, tourism services, infrastructure, transportation, and attractions.
In particular, the consultancy company pointed out some matters of concern facing Da Nang.
For instance, the average stay periods of visitors from both home and abroad, and their spending in the city are now still modest. Another issue is that local support tourism activities are still less inviting than those in many regional countries,
In their recommendations, Roland Berger experts underlined a need for Da Nang to attract even more visitors from European and the Southeast Asian countries, instead of relying too much on such traditional foreign tourist markets as South Korea, China and Japan.
Importance should be attached to opening more night markets, and promoting professionalism and diversification of community activities on the tourists-packed Pham Van Dong and Nguyen Tat Thanh beaches.
Last, but not least, one attention should be paid to promoting the city’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) tourism which can bring in much higher revenue for the city than the other types of tourism because it attracts a large number of high-end visitors.
Addressing the seminar municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highly praised the in-depth analysis by Roland Berger for facilitating the city to develop detailed tourism development plans for the coming time.
The city authorities are now appealing for domestic and foreign to give development orientations for the local tourism, especially developing even more tourism products and promotion programmes, and human resources training.
