Especially, numerous investment promotion activities have been organised both at home and abroad.

In particular, seminars on appealing for investment into the city have been held in Japan’s Kansai and Gifu, whilst a ‘Meet Danang’ programme has taken place in Ho Chi Minh City.

Great efforts have been made to accelerate bilateral cooperation with international trading organisations such as the Japanese External Trade Organisation (JETRO), the Korea Trade Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the European Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (EuroCham), and the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Viet Nam (AUSCHAM).

In addition to such Southeast Asian countries as Singapore, Japan and South Korea, special attention has been paid to appealing for foreign investment into the city from some Western countries.

In detail, on 25 May, municipal People’s Committee (PC) Chairman Huynh Duc Tho attended a ‘Meet Europe 2018’ conference in Ha Noi. During the event, many businesspeople and investors showed their keen interest in investing into Da Nang.

The municipal PC has organised seminars to promote investment into infrastructure projects under the public-private partnership (PPP) format, as well as cooperated with the Vietnamese National Association of Real Estate Professionals in the USA in the real estate sector, and some Australian diplomatic agencies in education.

In addition, on 13 August, Chairman Tho met with some representatives from the GAZ Group in Russia’s capital city of Moscow in order to appeal for investment into manufacturing and assembling trucks and pickup trucks in Da Nang.

During his working session with ANEX Tour’s representatives, Mr Tho invited ANEX Tour representatives to visit Da Nang in order to conduct surveys into his city’s tourism products.

As part of his recent working trip to European countries, Chairman Tho witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the city-based Thanh Dat Group and the Future Investment Group in Prague, the Czech Republic, on building an international paediatrics hospital in Da Nang.

In Sweden, representatives from Da Nang and Boras City together inked a cooperative agreement on implementing the ‘Scientific Education for Da Nang’s Sustainable Development’ project. Also, the Da Nang authorities appealed for the Swedish Investment Promotion Agency to invest into the city’s solid waste and wastewater treatment projects.

Between 19 and 22 August, a group of representatives from the municipal PC, led by its Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh, made a working trip to Israel in order to promote the bilateral cooperation relations with Israeli localities.

In another meeting between leaders of Da Nang and Haifa City, the Haifa City authorities pledged to advertise the image of Da Nang to their citizens, and to share with Da Nang their valuable experience in such aspects as hi-tech, information technology, and biotechnology.

Currently, Da Nang is giving top priority to fostering cooperation about innovative and creative activities between its Hi-tech Park and Israel’s Matam Hi-tech and Business Park, the hiCenter Ventures in Haifa City, and some Israeli big institutes. Moreover, the University of Da Nang has been boosting higher education cooperation with the Israeli Technion Institute of Technology.

In addition, Vice Chairman Minh visited Finland to promote bilateral cooperation and exchanges of experience in developing seaport systems, logistics, public transport and smart traffic services.
