Apart from offering the work place, SpaceA is also a good place where many foreigners come to get necessary information on local accommodations, transportations, business registration, and more.
A
bout 3 years ago, 35-year-old Arimoto Masayoshi, the founder of SpaceA, first came to Viet Nam.
At that time, he was the Director of a company specialising in market promotion and development in Japan. He said, “I have been doing business in Japan for many years. Coming to Viet Nam, I realise that, in spite of the bustle and fast life, Vietnamese people still spend more time on community and social activities”. These are main reasons why he did not hesitate to settle down his life in Viet Nam which had been just a destination during his Asian tour.
Afterwards, Masayoshi decided to live and work in Da Nang which is worth living thanks to its peace and great development potential.
Masayoshi deeply understood difficulties and challenges facing foreigners during their first days of stay in the city, and this inspired to develop an idea of opening a place which could help foreigners find out all information about Da Nang and adapt themselves effectively to their new life in the city.
With the support of his Vietnamese friend Do Ngoc Nam who once worked in Japan for many years, SpaceA, the co-woking space for foreigners, the first of its kind in the city, was officially put into operation in mid-July.
It is noticeable that Masayoshi usually appeals for foreign experts who work in Da Nang to deliver speeches at SpaceA-organised thematic talks.
More recently, a talk about blockchain technology was held at the SpaceA late September, attracting a total of over 30 young domestic and foreign participants.
During this event, Tsutomu Okumura, the multinational IT corporations / CTO&Project manager, introduced the participants on world blockchain projects, whilst Dr Anand Nayya, a lecturer from the city-based Duy Tan University, presented blockchain in business.
An Australian national, Catherine Flanagan, who worked as a design manager for a graphic design and branding firm in Melbourne, Australia, started living and working in Da Nang in September. She gave high praise for SpaceA for making her feel at home whenever she comes here.
Meanwhile, Anna Priewasser from Austria said she really likes services SpaceA offers. It is truly perfect place for anyone who wants to exchange experiences with others on certain aspects, and seek suitable their potential partners for cooperation activities as well.
Although SpaceA has operated for only several months, Masayoshi hoped that SpaceA will be more popular, especially with foreigners, hereby helping to promote the city’s investment and business environment.
According to Nguyen Cong Tien, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, over recent years, co-working spaces have become an increasingly popular choice for young local and expat freelancers, and startups in Da Nang.
Co-working is a modern-day model in which individuals pay to share their working space. In particular, early-stage businesses can gain access to operational infrastructure for a minimal fee.
In co-working environment, young white-collar employees are no longer confined to the conventional workplace. They also use the social aspect of this place as an opportunity to create new working relationships, take on challenges alongside other like-minded individuals, grasp business opportunities, and exchange experiences with those from various aspects. In particular, startup developers can also learn a great deal from successful predecessors. If they’re lucky enough, they can also receive funding from potential investors to turn their projects into a reality.
Mr. Tien emphasised it is important that these spaces should operate in accordance with the national Enterprise Law, promote their role in creating working environment with connectivity, contribute positively to the city’s progress.
