In his remarks at the event, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho highlighted the significance of the event in enhancing the cooperative relations between CityNet members.
The city leader noted Da Nang is one of 6 Vietnamese cities to have become an official member of CityNet since 2005, and it has made great contribution to this network.
“2018 has been set by Da Nang as a year of investment attraction, so we need a helping hand from CityNet and its members to assist Da Nang to deploy projects on building a smarter and sustainable development city in the future”, Chairman Tho added
On Thursday, an international seminar entitled ‘Investing in Sustainable Urbanisation’ took place in the city.
Organised by CityNet, the event attracted the participation of representatives from CityNet member nations, along with experts from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank (WB).
It was considered a good opportunity for CityNet to evaluate urbanisation policies, as well as share its valuable experience in the building and development of sustainable urbanisation in Asian cities.
CityNet is the largest association of urban stakeholders committed to sustainable development in the Asia Pacific region. Established in 1987 with the support of UNESCAP, UNDP and UN-Habitat, the Network of cities has grown to include over 130 municipalities, NGOs, private companies and research centers.
