Attracting Japanese investment into the city
The Da Nang authorities have joined forces with the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) to organise a seminar in Ha Noi to attract Japanese investment into the city.
As part of a series of activities of the Da Nang ‘2018: The Year of Investment Promotion’ programme, and part of celebrations for the 45th anniversary of the Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic ties, the event aimed to introduce the economy, people, infrastructure, strategic emerging industries, and preferential policies, of the city to Japanese investors.
In his remarks at the seminar, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, highly applauded great efforts of Japanese businesses for the country’s progress over the past 3 decades. He also noted his city has always considered Japan as its important strategic partner.
“As of late November, Da Nang had attracted 670 FDI projects with a total registered capital of 2.88 billion USD. Notably, Japan took the lead amongst foreign investors in Da Nang in the number of projects with 163 projects, totalling 675 million USD”, Mr Minh added.
Vice Chairman Minh emphasised the majority of the Japanese-invested projects involve in such aspects as processing, manufacturing, information technology, and communications, creating over 20,000 jobs for job-seekers.
In addition, Japanese investors have introduced advanced management models, modern business methods to domestic businesses, and inspired them to renew their technologies and enhance the quality of their products.
Also at the event, speeches and opinions about investment environment, and business and startup opportunities in Da Nang were presented by Japanese delegates and investors.
