Da Nang Port sets to hit 9 million tonnes of cargo by the end of 2019

In 2018 alone, the total volume of cargo transported through the Da Nang Port hit over 8.6 million tonnes, including 365,000 TEUs, up 7.2% against 2017.

In addition, the port welcomed 109 cruise and military ships, a rise of 31.33% against 2017, carrying a total of 183,582 passengers and crew members on board.

Moreover, the Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company entered into a total of 73 long-term and 14 transport contracts with its partners over the last year.

Yearly, the port receives about 17 container ships, amongst of which are operated by the world’s leading container shipping companies. It is likely to earn about 705 billion VND in revenue and 190 billion VND in profits per year.

This year, the port has set its targets of handling 9 million tonnes of cargo, including 390,000 TEUs on container ships, and earning 725 billion VND in revenue and 210 billion VND in pre-tax profits.

Besides, the port is planning to invest a total of 220 billion VND for some of the city’s key projects such as the second phase upgrade of the Tien Sa Port and a logistics centre in Hoa Vang District.
