Efforts to create special tourism products
In an effort to create more special tourism products featuring the distinctive characteristics of the land and people of Da Nang, since last September, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has launched a vote for the city’s top tourism products.

After many months of launching, 7 out of dozens of products have received the highest number of public votes.
Included are the Hoa Tho Textiles and Garments Corporation’s Merriman fashionable clothes, the Le Quang Huy Handicraft Products Export/Import Company’s wooden Dragon Bridge models, the Huong Que Production-Processing-Import Export Trading Company’s high-quality nursing shoes and shoe linings, and the Binh Vinh Company’s BIWA water bottles.
Mr Le Van Phieu, Director of the Le Quang Huy Handicraft Products Export/Import Company, remarked his company’s first product was designed and created in 2012 with an initial length of over 1.2m. After many steps of processing, the length of this model has been reduced to 52cm.
He, however, added that his product was still quite cumbersome, and it had yet to reach a high degree of sophistication. In addition, its retailed price is too high in comparison to the shopping demand of visitors.
“We only receive orders from local government departments and agencies which use the product as a gift for their foreigner guests. Therefore, only 1,000 products are sold every year”, Director Phieu.
He said that he was making every effort to re-create this product with a high degree of sophistication at lower price in order to satisfy the demand of tourists.

Meanwhile, the Huong Que Production-Processing-Import Export Trading Company’s high-quality nursing shoes and shoe linings have won trust of customers from both home and abroad.
“This positive sign has helped to affirm quality and reputation of businesses in Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole”, the company’s Director Nguyen Xuan Son proudly said.
Director of the city’s branch of Vietravel Company Doan Hai Dang highlighted the necessity for the city to develop more special tourism products in order to stimulate customers to stay longer and spend more money in the city.
Sharing the same idea, the Deputy Director of the city-based Viet Nam Tourism Joint Stock Company (Vitours), Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, stressed the need for the city to make souvenirs from such the city’s symbols as the Han River Bridge, the Marble Mountains, the Sun Wheel and the Golden Bridge.
