Construction of additional 86 downtown parking lots proposed
Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung chaired the Wednesday meeting to appraise a road infrastructure planning project, with a focus on the construction of parking lots in the inner-city districts of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, and Son Tra.
According to the city-based Technology Development and Investment Consultant JSC (TDIC) Company, the project’s planning consultancy unit, by 2030, the number of parking lots in the 3 downtown districts should increase by 86 to reach 128 from the current 42 with the total investment of over 5,800 billion VND.
TDIC also suggested that the unsuitable parking lots should be demolished and the locations of new ones should be put into careful consideration in a bid to ensure the appropriate distribution of parking lots, hereby satisfying the increasing public parking demand.
Also at the meeting, Vice Chairman Dung asked the project consultants to review and recalculate the exact future parking demand, and at the same time, re-check the legality of the construction sites earmarked for the construction of new parking lots.
Besides, heed should be paid to implementing effective policies to reduce parking demand downtown areas in the coming time, seeking suitable operation technology for the parking lots, proposing parking fee collection policies, and identifying specific investment methods for each parking lot.
