Sun World Ba Na Hills celebrates 10 years of operating its first cable car system

The Sun Group-developed Sun World Ba Na Hills in Da Nang on Monday morning celebrated 10 years of operating its first cable car.

Addressing the ceremony, municipal People's Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh highly praised the tourist area for opening its first cable car system in 2009 and constantly developing highly innovative tourism products, especially the Cau Vang (Golden Bridge) attracting global attention, hereby helping to create an important driving force for the impressive growth of the city’s tourism industry.

The ceaseless efforts made by the Sun World Ba Na Hills, in fact, enriches the collection of the city’s world-class tourism products, helps the city attract even more tourists, especially foreigners, and affirms the city’s stature as ‘Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination', the award it was given at the World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony in 2016.

Vice Chairman  Chinh took the opportunity to ask the  Sun Group to make greater efforts to create new high-level projects, thereby making the city becoming “can’t-miss” destination for tourists from all over the world, and affirming the company’s position as the city’s leading tourism enterprise which pioneers in creating new tourist symbols for the city.

Opened in 2009, the Ba Na - Suoi Mo cable car system won 2 Guinness World Records for being the longest one-line cable car service in the world - 5,042.62m, and having the highest difference in height between the departure and destination points - 1,291.81m.

Over the past decade, the Sun World Ba Na Hills has been honoured with the ‘Viet Nam’s Leading Attraction ’ award by the Viet Nam Tourism Association and the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism for 4 consecutive years.

In 2009, Ba Na Hills opened the first cable car route, setting two world records – the longest and highest non-stop cable car system.

To mark the occasion, municipal PC Vice Chairman Tran Van Mien awarded a Certificate of Merit from the municipal PC Chairman to the Ba Na Service Cable Car JSC in recognition of its great dedication towards the development of the city’s tourism industry over the 2009 – 2019 period.
