The rise in July’s CPI is mainly due to the hike in food price against June. In addition, the increase in electricity price by 4.1% in July plus surging electricity use due to prolonged hot weather pushed the CPI up.

Similarly, the prices for tap water increased by 0.21% due to the growth in demand for water during the hot weather period.
