Themed ‘Customs-Businesses: Connection, Sharing and Accompanying’, the event featured discussions about difficulties facing local enterprises in customs procedures and e-customs declaration system, as well as about the management of imported/exported goods to prevent fraud of product origins.
According to a report released by the Department at the event, in 2018 alone, local customs officers handled customs procedures for 2,000 businesses. In the first half of this year, the city’s total import and export turnover hit 1,685 billion USD, an increase of 2.2% compared with the same period last year.
Mr Quach Dang Hoa, Director of the municipal Customs Department, remarked that the event provided a good opportunity for local businesses to present to the Department their difficulties during the import and export of their goods. Thanks to this, his Department would take suitable measures to deal with the customs-related problems and enhance the quality of customs services.
Mr Hoa hoped his Department would receive even more suggestions and ideas given by businesses about the simplification of customs procedures, as well as customs reforms and modernisation in order to facilitate import and export activities.
“In the coming time, the Department will focus on promoting its partnership with enterprises and some relevant agencies, and raising businesses’ awareness about the law compliance”, Mr Hoa emphasised.
