Typical rural industrial products are new, high-quality, and highly competitive ones. Their production establishments are creating many job opportunities for locals.
Recently, a total of 14 products have been voted as Da Nang’s typical rural industrial products in 2019.
According to the voting council, the selection of these products is based on main criteria such as meeting the market demand, product development capability, environmental protection, and aesthetics.
Amongst them are ‘Kho me’ (sesame) cake from the Mrs Lieu Kho Me (sesame cake) Making Establishment in Cam Le District, and Binh Minh and Nam O -Huong Lang Co fish sauces from the Nam O fish sauce village in Lien Chieu District, and seashell-shaped fine art stones from the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village.
This has proved that traditional craft villages play an important role in making high-quality products which feature the unique characteristics of wards, districts, and Da Nang as a whole.
For instance, the Binh Minh fish sauce is made by a traditional method with fresh anchovies caught from beaches of Da Nang and its neighbouring localities.
The Binh Minh Fish Sauce-making Establishment produces an average of around 10,000 litres in total every year, and earns one billion VND in revenue. It is expected that the figure will increase to between 20,000 and 30,000 litres per year by 2021, whilst the revenue will rise to between 2 and 3 billion VND by 2021.
In order to promote the development of fish sauce products, over recent years, the Hong Huong Fish Sauce Co Ltd has boosted its production and business activities in combination with attracting even more tourists to visit its production facility.
Director of the Company Bui Thanh Phu explained the reason that the intention of the above-mentioned business model is to preserve the traditional fish sauce making village, as well as to create more job opportunities for locals, especially those aged 50 and over.
100% of raw materials to make typical rural industrial products are sourced at home, and their quality and designs are constantly improved year by year are highlights of such products. In addition, many products have been exported to international markets, contributing to the city’s annual export turnover.
Mrs Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, remarked her agency has organised numerous meaningful programmes to promote the development of typical rural industrial products over recent years.
In particular, the voting of the typical rural industry products is the good opportunity for production establishments, handicraft villages and firms to advertise their products to both domestic and foreign markets.
Besides, a total of 3 billion VND from the city budget has been spent on industrial promotion activities across the city.
Accordingly, numerous trade promotion programmes and fairs have been held as a good way to help participating businesses to enhance the advertisement of their products.
