Da Nang was honoured with the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO) Smart City Award 2019 at the ASOCIO International Smart City Summit 2019 which took place in Bangkok, Thailand, on 28 August.

Held for the first time in 2019, the ASOCIO Smart City Award aims to recognise and honour cities of 24 ASOCIO member economies for their great efforts and remarkable achievements during the building of smarter cities.

The ASOCIO Smart City Award 2019 featured 6 categories of tourism city, cultural city, agricultural city, ancient city, heritage city, and overall smart city.

It focused on 5 indexes of happiness, smart infrastructure, online public service, economic growth, education and development research.

Da Nang was one of the 8 cities from 24 member economies to receive the notable award this year. This is a great opportunity for Da Nang to stay in touch with other smart cities in the region to learn from their experience, and work together to develop good ideas and solutions to build a smarter city based on the socio-economic conditions.

Established in 1984 in Tokyo, Japan, ASOCIO is an information and communication technology (ICT) federation organised by ICT associations representing 24 economies throughout the Asia Pacific. It is the most time-honoured and active international ICT trade organisation in Asia and Oceania.
