EWEC Fair 2019 runs until 7 August

The International East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) Trade and Tourism Fair 2019 opened at the Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre, 9 Cach Mang Thang Tam, on Friday.

Present at the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai, and Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh, plus representatives from diplomatic agencies, provinces and cities from China, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar.

The event, which runs until 7 August, features over 500 stands of more than 350 businesses. These businesses come from 18 cities and provinces nationwide, along with 11 foreign organisations and enterprises from 10 countries namely Laos, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, China, South Korea, Indonesia, the USA, Canada, and South Africa.

The 6-day fair showcases various tourism, trade and investment products such as electrical, electronic and IT products, processed food, wood products, home accessories, leather footwear, apparel, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, along with restaurant and hotel services.

In his opening speech, Vice Chairman Minh highlighted the significance of the fair in enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation amongst countries along the EWEC.

He added the 1,450km-long EWEC links 13 provinces and cities of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos and Viet Nam. He also underlined the vital role of Da Nang in expanding trade relations with countries along the EWEC, and worldwide as a whole, thanks to its favourable geographic position of being the endpoint and being the Pacific gateway for the EWEC.

Mr Minh noted the annual fair was the good opportunity for participating businesses to introduce their development achievements and potential of trade, investment and tourism, as well as to access consumers, promote trade and seek business partnerships.

On the occasion, 14 locally-made products were awarded the ‘Typical Rural Industrial Rural Industrial Products 2019’ certificate.
