The event was part of the ongoing working trip to the USA made by a delegation of Da Nang’s leaders led by municipal People's Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho.

Co-organised by the Da Nang People's Committee and the Canada-Viet Nam Trade Council, the event was attended by 15 businesspeople from Canada.

In his remarks at the event, Chairman Tho said that Da Nang has been giving top priority to promoting the bilateral cooperation with Canada, and attracting more Canadian investors to pour their money into such aspects as hi-tech, information technology, education, and tourism.

During the talk, the participants showed their keen interest in the city’s projects involving renewable energy, education, and automobile parts manufacturing and assembly.

A representative of the Toronto Energy Association said that Da Nang boasts great potential for developing renewable energy, so he highlighted the importance of using the environmentally friendly energy in Da Nang, including geothermal energy, instead of fossil energy.

He also noted that his association’s members are the world's leading enterprises in geothermal energy development technology. Therefore, his association will introduce reputable companies to help Da Nang implement geothermal energy-related projects.

In reply, Chairman Tho highly spoke of the Association’s proposal, affirming that clean energy development was one of his city’s priority projects in an effort to building Da Nang into a green and smarter city.

Mr Tho also said that Da Nang is welcoming  Canadian businesses to open automobile parts manufacturing and assembly factories in Da Nang. Currently, Da Nang is home to a large number of mechanical engineering companies which are capable of cooperating with foreign partners, and the city boasts the synchronous transport infrastructure.

The city leader also took the opportunity to appeal for Canadian investors to build multi-level international school, and organise international-standard training programmes in Da Nang in the time ahead.

During their ongoing working trip to the USA, the city’s delegation met with billionaire Joe Lewis to discuss about the survey on marina projects. In addition, they visited Florida to learn about the experience about developing the yacht industry there.
