To date, a total of 40 commercial banks nationwide have offered customs tax collection services, and notably, 25 out of them operate the 24/7 collection scheme.

By late August, the total of taxes and fees paid by businesses via bank transfer to the customs authorities’ accounts at the State Treasury had reached 219,904 billion VND, accounting for approximately 94% of the total revenue of the General Department of Viet Nam Customs at that time.

In reality, paying public service charges via banks makes management easier and ensures transparency.

Cashless payments will also save time and money for the State budget. Also, running the payments through banks would increase cash flow, and support the economy by shortening the timeframe for capital rotation.

In addition to the online tax collection service, the provision of other online public services has been implemented in an effective manner.

Currently, 100% of the municipal and provincial branches of the General Department of Viet Nam Customs provide 172 out of the 192 online public services for businesses at levels 3 and 4, accounting for 90% of the total administrative procedures.

Notable amongst them are 163 online public services offered at level 4 that allow the reception and processing of documents, payment of taxes, fees, charges, and the returning of results to be conducted completely via the Internet.

Besides, such core administrative procedures as goods clearance and import-export tax collection have been implemented at level 4, which is the highest of service, with the steps of performing payment transactions and sending feedback conducted in a quick and effective fashion, according to the classification by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

According to the General Department of Viet Nam Customs, importance will be attached to implementing automated cargo management system at seaports nationwide, and ensuring the stable operation of IT systems of the customs industry to meet the professional customs handling requirements.

Notably, the General Department of Viet Nam Customs is focusing on applying GPS seals for supervising goods which are subject to customs supervision transported by containers, and imported and exported goods subjected to customs supervision (independent and combined transport).

The GPS seal will be mounted on the container in the case of transporting by road and mounted on means of transport in the case of transporting by waterway and multiple stacked containers that cannot be mounted on the container.
