The implementation of this programme is highly expected to help businesses shorten time and conduct goods clearances on schedule under their export contracts.

In November 2017, the municipal Customs Department entered a co-operation agreement with commercial banks to implement a 24/7 e-tax payment scheme.

The e-tax payment facilitates businesses to pay their customs duties anywhere, anytime, reduce time, and ensure immediate goods clearance. The customs authority directly supports enterprises to make payment documents from the original data and minimise errors in money transfer procedures.

This helps to shorten time to complete customs procedures for import-export activities.

Busineses can access the website https://epayment.customs.gov.vn/epaymentportal/login to pay their customs duties. Firms only need certificate authority (CA) to transfer money and authorise banks to pay taxes through their accounts without fees.

Meanwhile, banks participating in e-tax payment are required to upgrade their e-payment portal.

After nearly 2 years of its implementation, 92 businesses in total operating in Da Nang have participated in this programme with a total of about 935 successful transactions being processed through the website

Import and export procedures at customs offices have become easier and faster than before thanks to non-cash payment.

Businesses have their goods cleared quickly after paying, and no longer face a situation where they pay the tax but customs does not receive information about it. The ease of payment has made the business community happy.

In order to create even more favourable conditions for businesses to implement regularly import and export procedures, the General Department of Customs has upgraded the 24/7 e-tax payment scheme into a new programme in which tax payments by businesses are automatically deducted from their accounts opened at certain banks, instead implementing tax payment steps on the e-Customs Declaration Portal or at banks.

There is no denying that cashless payments save time and money for the State budget. Also, running the payments through banks would increase cash flow, and support the economy by shortening the timeframe for capital rotation.

The implementation of this programme has been applied at such banks as Vietcombank, Vietinbank, BIDV, SCB) and TPBank. Some other banks will officially implement the programme right after completing the upgrade of e-payment system.
