The ‘A ring of peace’ created by Singapore-based studioMilou architecture firm has surpassed 7 other entries to win the first prize and the community-selected award, worth 340 million VND in total, at a recent contest to design architectural plans for the upgrade of Da Nang-based 29 March Park.

The second prize of 70 million VND went to for Ho Chi Minh City-headquartered LAVA ARCH Co., Ltd, whilst the remaining 6 contestants received 20 million VND each worth of aid.

The contest’s organisers received entries from 5 domestic and 3 foreign consulting companies units.

It was coincidental that not only did ‘A ring of peace’ receive high appreciation from the selection board, but it also gained the highest public votes during its display at the park and the city’s Administrative Centre from 9 to 14 October.

According to Chairman of Thanh Khe District People’s Committee Nguyen Van Tinh, representatives from the district-level Urban Management Office and the Construction Engineering Consultancy Centre under the municipal Department of Construction, the contest’ organiser, will work closely with the wining designers to properly adjust the ‘A ring of peace’ architectural plan in preparation for the upgrade of the park.

The highlight and typical feature of ‘A ring of peace’ is an elliptic golden portico looking like a floating ring on the lake if viewed from above, and especially this impressive design creates a memorial dedicated to Da Nang’s Liberation Day (29 March 1975).
