Ms Vu Huong Giang, a representative from the BigC Mall, said her mall has already stocked food and consumer goods to satisfy the increasing demand for Tet goods from the shoppers. Tet goods’ demand is expected to go up by 20% against the same period last year, Giang added.

In detail, around 11 billion VND has been spent on storing melon seeds, jams and confectionery, over 5 billion VND on beer, wine and beverages, more than 23 billion VND on vegetables and fruits, and 4 billion VND on chicken, duck, beef and pork.

“Apart from stockpiling goods, the BigC Mall will offer many attractive promotional programmes in order to increase purchasing power of its shoppers at our supermarket”, Ms Giang noted.

Meanwhile, the city’s branch of the Co.op Mart has stockpiled hundreds of tons of Tet goods and other essential products, totalling 80 billion VND, up between 15% and 20% against the same period last year. Included are 170 tonnes of vegetables and fruits, 50 tonnes of rice and glutinous rice, and 15 tonnes of confectioneries, beverages, fashionable clothes, household appliances, and cosmetics.

The supermarket’s Director Phan Thong remarked that all products on sale at his supermarket display country of origin information, and meet requirements about food safety and hygiene standards.
