A large number of key projects that are scheduled to be implemented in Da Nang in the 2016 - 2020 period are currently in the final stage of preparatory process, hereby, promising a boom in construction activities next year.

According to the municipal administration report released in November, 46 out of the 73 key projects were funded by the municipal and central budgets under the national target programme, 8 were developed by national government ministries and agencies, and the remaining ones were conducted by domestic and foreign investors.
Amongst the city budget-funded project, Da Nang’s first smart multi-storey car park, located at 255 Phan Chau Trinh, has been put into use. Meanwhile, 4 other projects, namely the infrastructure development at the Da Nang Hi-tech Park, the technical infrastructure construction at the Cam Le industrial cluster, auxiliary facilities of the High-tech Park and the upgrade of the existing Phu Loc wastewater treatment station, are progressing well.
Next year, work is expected to start on such projects as the expansion of coastal walkways allowing public access to beaches, and the upgrade of the Tho Quang fishing wharf, Ngu Hanh Son wastewater treatment station and Hoa Lien water plant.
Another landmark soon-to-be-implemented project is the Da Nang Transport Project, which is expected to cost 61.37 million US$, of which 45 million US$ is loaned by OFID ( the OPEC Fund for International Development), whilst about 16.37 million US$ comes from Viet Nam’s reciprocal capital allocated through the Da Nang budget.
Under the already-signed project, focus will be on building about 14.3 km of a western ring road No 2 measuring about 44-48m in width, and constructing 38.5m-wide bridges along this route and such other technical infrastructure items as drainage and lighting systems, technical sewers, and trees.
Also, heed will be paid to building about 1.2 km of a road linking the Co Co Bridge and the intersection of Tran Dai Nghia and Vo Chi Cong streets, and a 100m-long section of a bridge crossing the Co Co River, connecting Vo Quy Huan Street and Vo Chi Cong Street.
Next year, 500 billion VND from the country’s medium-term investment fund for the 2016-2020 period will be spent on implementing the Da Nang University Village. |
The large-scale project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, helping Da Nang develop its transport infrastructure in a more effective and sustainable manner, thereby promoting the city’s socio-economic progress, enhancing residents’ living conditions, reducing traffic accidents, tackling environmental pollution and bettering locals’ travel conditions.
Currently, the process of selecting contractors is underway for other important projects, including the 2nd stage of the Cardiovascular Centre the specialist centres of Neurosurgery, Burns, and Reconstructive Surgery, and Organ Transplant and Stem Cell Therapy at the Da Nang General Hospital, the water environment improvement to the eastern side of Son Tra District, the upgrade of some facilities in the Khanh Son Landfill, the traffic arrangement at the western end of ran Thi Ly Bridge, the smart city building project and the expansion of the city’s Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.
According to Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment Tran Phuoc Son, next year, the municipal administration will promote the revival of such large-scale delayed projects so as to create a firm momentum for the city’s progress. Notable amongst them are the Da Nang University Village, the relocation of the railway station, and associated urban redevelopment, and the Lien Chieu mega-port.
It is worth noticing that the Vietnamese Prime Minister has given an approval for the proposal made by the Ministry of Planning and Investment about the spending of 1,000 billion VND from the country’s medium-term investment capital for the 2016-2020 period on implementing the Da Nang University Village. In the coming time, the national government is expected to grant 500 billion VND for this large-scale project next year.
