Notable amongst the great efforts made by the tourism industry in recent times were the issuance of international and domestic tourist market development strategies during the 2019 – 2021 period, and the release of breakthrough mechanisms and incentive policies for promoting the progress of Central Viet Nam’s key tourism cluster which consists of Da Nang and its neighbouring provinces of Quang Nam and Thua Thien –Hue.

Also noticeably, Da Nang has already opened its representative offices in South Korea, Hong Kong – China, and Japan. The city is planning to open similar offices in Europe, Australia, and other potential tourist markets in the coming time.

In particular, when it comes to sustainable tourism development, addition to the tourism environment development, it is necessary to appeal for the whole community’s active engagement in tourism activities, as well as to create more employment opportunities for locals, and make the tourism a driving force for other aspects of life.

In particular, the city’s Tourism Development Promotion Fund will run on a trial basis, with the objective of operating not- for- profit for the sake of the overall development of the tourism industry.

According the latest figures released by the municipal Department of Tourism, the total tourist arrivals to the city is likely to have hit 8.69 million by late this year, surpassing by 6.1% the year’s target and going up by 13.4% against last year. Of this figure, 3.52 million are foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, the total tourism revenue is estimated to have reached 30,973 billion VND, rising by 16.7% compared to last year, and exceeding by 13% of the year’s target.

In the face of the changing global tourism market, in addition to maintain such major traditional international tourist markets as Japan, South Korea, China, and Southeast Asia, focus will be on fully tapping potential foreign ones, including Western Europe, Russia, Australia, North America and India, especially targeting at medium and high-class tourists, luxury holiday and beach-leisure packages, shopping services and MICE (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions) tourism.

Heed will be paid to promoting the opening of non-stop air services connecting Da Nang with Russia, Australia, India, Beijing, and Indonesia.

Also next year, effective measures will be taken to promote culinary tourism and night-time products in service for domestic and international tourists.

At the same time, appeals will made for more active engagement by tourism businesses in creating more attractive good-quality products and services which totally satisfy the diversified tastes of tourists.

Last, but not least, the IT application will be promoted to boost the growth of this sector under the theme of night-time tourism products, and culinary and wedding-oriented tourism products targeted at international tourists.
