Impressive results by the city's tourism sector
In 2019, Da Nang’s tourism industry recorded numerous remarkable achievements.
The city is expected to welcome a large number of both domestic and foreign visitors in 2020 |
Over the 2016 - 2018 period, the city saw a growing number of domestic and foreign visitor arrivals each year, showing an average annual growth rate of around 17.5%. Amongst, the average annual growth rate of international visitor arrivals was 30.9%.
During that period, the average annual growth rate of turnover of the tourism industry was 28.4%.
In 2019 alone, the city hosted around 8.7 million visitors, a rise of 13.4% compared with the same period of 2018, surpassing the year's target by 6.1%. Of this figure, the number of foreigners went up by 22.5% to hit 3.5 million, whilst domestic visitor arrivals climbed by 8% to 5.2 million. Thanks to this, the city’s tourism sector earned an estimated 30,973 billion VND in revenue, up 16.7% against 2018.
Most noticeable, Da Nang became one of the most exciting hotspots to visit in Asia for foreign holiday-goers. This positive sign was mainly attributed to the city’s special tourism products, fascinating international events happening in the city, its modern transport infrastructure, and its safe, clean and beautiful tourism environment.
In addition, the city is now home to many world-class entertainment areas, including Sun World Ba Na Hill, Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, Son Tra and Thanh Khe Tay night markets, Asia Park, and Helio Entertainment Complex.
This year, the tourism industry is striving to become an even safer and friendlier holiday destination for visitors from both home and abroad.
Top priority will be given to developing high-quality tourism products, with a focus on MICE (Meetings-Incentives-Conferences-Exhibitions), golf, spiritual, and community-based ecotourism tourism.
Importance will be attached to setting up Bach Dang and Xuan Thieu night markets associated with pedestrian areas, organising more arts programmes, and developing sightseeing tours to the Son Tra Peninsula.
Also, heed will be paid to creating international standard bathing areas associated with 24/7 entertainment services opposite the An Thuong Tourism Area in Ngu Hanh Son District.
Greater efforts will be made to accelerate tourism promotion activities through increasing the participation of local travel agencies and tour operators in domestic and international fairs, in an attempt to increase domestic and foreign visitor arrivals in the city.
Besides, the opening of non-stop air services connecting Da Nang with Russia, Australia and India, and the advertisement of the beautiful images of Da Nang on popular social networks, will be boosted.
Special attention will be paid to welcoming famtrip delegations of bloggers and key opinion leaders (KOLs) who have fluent product knowledge and influence in the tourism industry from such potential tourist markets as India, Australia, Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Western and Eastern Europe, and Southeast Asia.
