To date, 9 domestic airlines have launched new nonstop services between Da Nang and destinations nationwide with the frequency of 670 flight per week.
Meanwhile, dozens of foreign and national flag air carriers have operated 40 international routes from Da Nang International Airport to destinations around the world with the frequency of 389 flight per week.
This impressive figures have been mainly attributed to the great efforts of the municipal authorities and leaders of the municipal Department of Tourism in promoting the opening of more non-stop flights between Da Nang and foreign countries in a bid to increase international tourist arrivals to the city.
During his working trips to Australia and New Zealand in August 2019, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung met with Mr Seb Mackinon, Commercial Director of Jetstar and Qantas airlines cum Asia Pacific Regional Marketing Manager, to discuss the launch of the Da Nang-Australia direct flights in the coming time.
Earlier in July 2019, in India’s Mumbai, the city-based Department of Tourism and some travel agencies had a working session with representatives of airlines there in order to offer more flights between Da Nang and Indian localities.
Ms Huynh Thi Huong Lan, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre, said that the tourism departments of Da Nang and Phnom Penh, Cambodia, together organised tourism promotion activities to promote the opening of non-stop flights between the two localities. As a result, operated by the Cambodia Angkor Air, the first non-stop flight between Phnom Penh and Da Nang officially took off in October 2019.
According to a spokesperson for the Da Nang-based Department of Tourism, new air routes from Da Nang to such destinations worldwide as Taipei (Taiwan), and Melbourne (Australia) will be launched during this year.
In particular, the Russia-Da Nang non-stop flights are set to take off in March. It is expected that as many as 12,000 Russian tourists will arrive in Da Nang on the soon-to-be-launched non-stop air service from 8 April - 22 October.
