The domestic passenger terminal T1 has annual capacity of handling between 4 and 6 million passengers.
Developed by the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV), the 1,345 billion VND terminal T1was officially put into operation on 15 December 2011.
Meanwhile, the international passenger terminal T2 handles between 4 - 4.5 million passengers per year.
Developed by the Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC (AHT), the 3,504 billion VND terminal T2 was officially put into use in May 2017.
The ACV-funded, 2,320m2 cargo terminal has annual capacity of handling about 18,000 tonnes of cargo.
In 2019 alone, the airport welcomed over 15.5 million passengers and handled 40,660 tonnes of cargo. These figures exceeded the target set for by 2020 by over 2.5 million passengers and 22,600 tonnes of cargo.
Currently, 10 nonstop domestic and 48 international air routes connecting Da Nang with other destinations nationwide and worldwide, are operating with a frequency of nearly 300 flights in total per day.
The international passenger terminal T2 is now overloaded after nearly 3 years of operation. |
In 2020, the airport is expected to welcome 17.3 million passengers from 115,353 flights.
Between 14 and 29 January, a total of 4,989 flights carrying 666,607 passengers departed and landed at Da Nang International Airport, an increase of 20% compared with the same period last year.
Over recent weeks, there has been a dramatic drop in the number of visitor arrivals from China in the city due to the coronavirus outbreak.
However, Da Nang has still welcomed a large number of visitor arrivals from and European and American countries.
Da Nang expects to see a growing number of air passenger arrivals in the coming few years, and this may result in the overloading of the 2 existing passenger terminals.
Therefore, the upgrade of the existing terminals and the construction of new T3 terminal are very necessary for the city.
ACV is planning to build 5,000 billion VND passenger terminal T3 which will be able to handle between 10 and 15 million passengers per year, and a 300 billion VND cargo terminal which will be able to handle between 80,000 and 100,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
