Abundance of goods at supermarkets at stable prices

Over recent days, many supermarkets, shopping centres and major traditional markets across Da Nang have been busy in stockpiling food and consumer goods to meet the consumption needs of local residents, and Vietnamese and foreign nationals who are quarantined in the city.

Retailers in the city have spent nearly 100 billion VND on stockpiling goods. In particular, BigC Mall has poured 20.6 billion VND into storing essential consumer products, MM Mega Market supermarket 4.3 billion VND, Thanh Khe District-based Co.opmart 11.9 billion VND, Son Tra District-based Co.opmart 8.7 billion VND, Vinmart at the Vincom Mall 1.7 billion VND, Lotte Mart 50 billion VND.

Meanwhile, a total of around 982 million VND has been used to stockpile essential goods by traders in the markets of Han, Con, Dong Da, and Moi. Included are 6,450kilos of rice, 705 boxes of instant noodles, 6,020 litres of oil, 9,600 bottles of fish sauce, about 2,000 sets of blankets, pillows and mosquito nets, and other personal items.

As many as 20 billion VND has been spent on storing food and essential items by traders at other markets across the city.

The municipal Department of Industry and Trade has planned to provide food and essential goods for local residents and isolated people if the new coronavirus (Covid-19) spreads fast across the city.

In particular, the An Thanh Co.Ltd., will be responsible for providing 3 meals totalling 80,000 VND/ day/ person for people who are placed in isolation in designated sites.

In case of large-scale isolation in residential areas, the Department will encourage local citizens to place their orders online or over by phone.
