Businesses' efforts to overcome the challenge of Covid-19
Amid an unprecedented business slow down due to the Covid-19, many companies across Da Nang are making subtle shifts in the effort to assist with the response to the coronavirus outbreak or to survive the crisis without going bust. The focus is on improving the quality of their existing products, developing their new ones, and even adapting quickly to the changes in consumer behaviour in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
Mr Phan Hai, the Director of the city-based BQ Shoe Company, said his company has seen a 50% drop in sales over recent months. He explained the reason that the purchasing power of such fashionable items as clothes and footwear, has decreased sharply due to coronavirus. Also, travel restrictions remain in place nationwide amid fears over the virus.
Mr Hai remarked that his company has raised its online sales to meet increased demand with changes to its online shopping services during the pandemic.
In a similar vein, monthly retail sales at the Lien Chieu District-based Mayaca Coffee Co., Ltd. decline by up to 50%.
The Company’s Director Ho Duc Tien said, in mid-April, his company launched a new product of bottled black coffee to help coffee lovers enjoy coffee at home instead of going out to minimise their chances of being infected or spreading the deadly virus.
“Also, my company is offering many promotions on its online services, and free home delivery services to attract more customers, Mr Tien added.
Meanwhile, the Huong Que Production-Processing-Import Export Trading Company has switched some of of its clothing production lines to make cloth face masks since early February for the coronavirus pandemic .
Since March 7, the Huong Que Company has provided 420,000 cloth face masks for domestic market, and exported four batches of 110,000 cloth face masks in total to European countries.
Mr Nguyen Xuan Son, Director of the Huong Que Company, said his company maintains jobs for 70 employees during the pandemic thanks to switching from making clothing to cloth face masks. Most notably, the company’s revenue is not much less than the period before the coronavirus outbreak occurred.
