JICA to help the city conduct pre-feasibility studies on two PPP projects
The Da Nang Department of Planning and Investment and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently held an online meeting to discuss ways to boost the development of Da Nang's seaports.
The two sides discussed articles in the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the municipal People's Committee and JICA.
JICA pledged to help Da Nang conduct pre-feasibility studies on the construction of the Lien Chieu Port, and the removal of the city's railway station which will be implemented under the public-private partnership (PPP) format.
In reply, Director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment Tran Phuoc Son praised JICA for its practical and effective research results about the city's port development models in line with the city's master plans.
A spokesperson for the municipal Department of Planning and Investment recently announced that JICA and the Yokohama goverment in Japan would continue to fund the 2nd stage of the solid waste management project in Da Nang.
The positive result came from the bilateral cooperation discussion between the Da Nang and Yokohama goverments at the 9th Da Nang Urban Development Forum held in Japan in 2019.
It is known that the 1st stage of the solid waste management project, at a total cost of 10.9 billion VND, have already been carried out in Thach Thang and Thuan Phuoc wards in Hai Chau District, and Thanh Khe Tay and Hoa Khe wards in Thanh Khe District.
The 1st stage of the project focused on widely publicising the waste classification at source amongst local families, and encouraging more residents to classify trash at source in appropriate manner.
