After the Da Nang government has begun to relax social distancing measures since the midnight on 22 April, many big retailers across the city, including Big C, Co.opmart, Lotte Mart, MM Mega Market, are offering the discounts to their customers in order to stimulate consumption, and help them partly ease their financial burden during the pandemic.

Big C Mall is launching a promotional programme entitled ‘Healthy Menus’ between 24 April and 6 May. The up to 20 per cent discount will be offered on the price of essential products on supermarket shelves such as fresh meat, vegetables, fish, fast and processed food.

From 23 April - 6 May, Co.opmart is offering between 15% and 50% discount on thousands of its products.

Besides, traditional markets across Da Nang ensure there is sufficient supply of  essential goods at stabilised prices for local residents.

Currently, the Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market witnesses a higher volume of goods as compared with the 3-week period of nationwide social-distancing measures

In the morning of 23 April, the volume of fruits and vegetables at the wholesale market reached over 200 tonnes, up 30% against previous days.

The Management and Development Company for Da Nang Markets under the management of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has asked market stall holders  and market-goers to strictly follow the city’s drastic measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus, including wearing face masks, and frequently cleaning their hands.

As domestic pork prices remain high, many retailers have imported a large volume of frozen meat from foreign countries to meet growing demand of local residents and reduce their dependence on the domestic market.

Specifically, the Big C Mall is offering its customers a 37% discount on its frozen pork imported from Canada and Poland.

Most notably, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has sent a list of 27 medical facilities and quarantine sites in the city to the municipal Power Company for considering reductions in their monthly electricity bills following the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade’s guidelines.
