Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh recently visited the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO)’s representative office in Ha Noi.

During his meeting with representatives of JETRO, Vice Chairman Minh said Da Nang is welcoming domestic and foreign investment into its priority projects, especially software parks, amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mr Minh noted that Da Nang has been focusing on developing high-quality human resources for the city's information technology (IT) sector over recent years. Most notably, Da Nang has got approval from the Prime Minister to upgrade the Viet Nam-Korea Friendship IT Junior College into the Viet Nam-Korea IT and Communication University.  This will help the city deal with its severe shortage of highly-skilled IT employees.

In reply, a JETRO representative said Da Nang is very attractive to Japanese travellers due to its modern infrastructure, beautiful beaches, an affordable cost of living, and safe tourism environment.

Recent years has seen a notable increase of FDI inflows into Da Nang, especially from Japan, mainly involving such aspects as manufacturing, processing, hi-tech, and information technology.

Especially, in January 2020, Da Nang welcomed a delegation of more than 1,000 delegates who were parliamentarians, provincial leaders, representatives of ministries, economic organisations and businesses across Japan to learn about the city’s business investment environment. Japan opened a consulate office in Da Nang in early 2020.

In March 2020, JETRO made a video clip called ‘The Attractiveness of Da Nang - New Business Opportunities in Viet Nam’ in a bid to introduce investment opportunities in Da Nang. On 19 March 2020, this video clip was screened in Japanese television’s International Business Information Programme called ‘JETRO Global Eye’.
