The city develops action plans to attract domestic visitors during coronavirus crisis
Da Nang’s tourism industry, one of the first and hardest hit sectors by the coronavirus pandemic, is showing signs of gradual recovery as the outbreak is brought under control in Viet Nam.

Therefore, tourism businesses across the city have developed action plans to survive in a Covid-19 business environment, and created strategies to support faster recovery after the crisis passes, with a focus on attracting domestic visitors to Da Nang.
According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), health and safety are still top priorities for travellers amid Covid-19 so Vietnamese citizens are preferring to travel to domestic destinations instead of foreign countries.
Domestic travellers tend to book day trips to explore places to visit that help them see local attractions and learn about local culture, as well as experience rural life and scenery engaged in agritourism.

Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, Deputy General Director of the Vitours, said there has been a slightly increase in the number of domestic travellers who book their trips to domestic destinations through his agent, especially young people in Da Nang who want to book day trips to neighbouring localities in the central region after nationwide social distancing rules have been eased.
Mr Trung underlined the need for travel agencies to conduct tourism marketing campaigns in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, and northeastern and southern localities in a bid to increase domestic visits to the city.
Mr Huynh Duc Trung, the Head of Travel Management Office, said the municipal Department of Tourism planned to target potential sources of visitors to Da Nang from such central regional localities as Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai and Binh Dinh.
Mr Trung noted that his unit has focused on developing tourism products for family travellers, as well as promote the development of team-building tourism.
In addition, special attention will be paid to developing and improving the quality of short-day, high-end beach, leisure, healthcare and ecological tourism products for both groups of travellers and individual travellers.
Besides, importance will be attached to working with domestic airlines to attract visitors from such localities as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh and Gia Lai.
Efforts will be made to create closer links with other provinces and cities nationwide in order to promote tourism cooperation, especially between Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Lam Dong, Hai Phong, Nghe An and Dak Lak.
