Da Nang will continue to bake in a relentless heatwave which could see temperatures tip the mercury to above 37 degree Celsius, and it could be even hotter over the next few days.

Currently, power and water companies are making every effort to ensure there are secure supplies for homes and businesses across Da Nang in the context of extreme hot weather and during the upcoming summer.

Since the start of this year, the salinity levels at the Cau Do (Red Bridge) Water Supply Plant’s raw water intake have been increased sometimes.

Hence, the municipal Department of Construction and the city’s Water Supply Joint Stock Company (DAWACO) have taken all reasonable measures to ensure the delivery of an adequate supply of water in the city throughout the year.

In particular, DAWACO has built a temporary anti-saline intrusion dam on a section of the Cam Le River.

Also, work is now being on track on the 1st stage of the Hoa Lien Water Plant project in Hoa Vang District.

Meanwhile, a project to increase the capacity of the An Trach anti-Salinity Pumping Station and install a pipe system to transport water source to the Cau Do Water Plant is under way, and it is scheduled to be delivered in May 2021.

Besides, a project on raising the daily capacity of the Cam Le District-located Cau Do (Red Bridge) Water Plant from 230,000m3 to 290,000m3 of water is expected to be carried out within this year.

Work on the 2nd stage of the Hoa Trung Water Supply Plant is scheduled to begin in July.

The construction of the 1st stage of the project with a daily capacity of 120,000m3 of water is underway and the work is expected to be completed in June 2021.

The installation of large-size water pipelines in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts has been already completed. Currently, water pipelines are being installed along the Hoang Sa-Vo Nguyen Giap-Truong Sa, and Vo Chi Cong-Minh Mang routes, and Thang Long Street.

Besides, the Da Nang Power Company has upgraded a number of 22kV medium-voltage power transmission lines, and optimised the power grid systems citywide to deliver secure electricity supplies in the city.

Also, the company has closely worked with the Central Regional Load Dispatch Centre, the Power Transmission Company No 2, and the Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue power companies to ensure the smooth operation of the 220kV - 110kV high-voltage power grid in a bid to ensure safe and stable power supplies in the city.
