At a press conference on Saturday it was announced that the 2020 tourism stimulus programme themed ‘Da Nang Thank You 2020' will run from May until December.

In his remarks at the event, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh said tourism is one of the most important drivers of the city's growth as identified in Politburo’s Resolution No 43-NQ/TW regarding the city’s progress by 2030 with a vision toward 2045. Vice Chairman Minh highlighted the significance of this year's tourism stimulus programme in creating more motivation to help the city's tourism industry recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are looking to get the response and active participation of tourism service providers and media agencies in the city, along with domestic airlines to assist Da Nang to widely publicise this year's tourism stimulus programme for both domestic and international visitors", Mr Minh remarked.

Till date, more than 150 tourism service providers in Da Nang have already registered to join the programme. Included are travel agencies, one to 5-star hotels, restaurants, tourist sites, stores and shopping outlets, and transport service providers.

Under the programme, great discounts on maritime tourism services in the city will be offered from 17 - 31 July, and great deals on shopping and entertainment services from 23 November - 6 December.

Also, special activities and events to mark Christmas and New Year holidays will take place between 22 and 28 December.

The Marble Mountains Tourist Area, the Museum of Da Nang, the Museum of Cham Sculpture and the Fine Are Museum will offer free admission between 1 June and 31 August.

Besides, travel agenices will offer great deals on Da Nang tour packages. In particular, the 3-day/2-night tour and service packages, worth 1,990,000 VND per person, will be applied for those who fly with Vietjet Air from now until 30 June, whilst the 3-day/2-night tour and service packages, valued at 2,490,000 VND per person,  will be applied for those who fly with VietnamAirlines from now until August 30.

Most notably, the first 1,200 visitors taking these tour packages to Da Nang will receive thank-you cards from the municipal People's Committee, and they will enjoy free entry to the Sun World Ba Na Hills (excluding buffet tickets). Meanwhile, the first 350 travellers registering for the 3-day/2-night Da Nang tour packages will have the opportunity to experience 4-star hotels in the city with best prices.

Also at the press conference, the Danang Tourism Promotion Fund (DTPF), with its initial charter capital of 3.85 billion VND (165,500 USD), officially made its debut in the city.

The Fund will operate on a non-profit basis in a transparent manner, and all donations from individuals and tourism businesses both at home and abroad are welcome.

The Fund aims to help create a closer link with tourism businesses from both home and aboard, and launch domestic and international marketing campaigns. Also, the focus will be on assisting local tourism firms to operate effectively, raising public awareness of preserving a good tourism environment, and organising fascinating events to increase visitor arrivals in the city, thereby boosting the development of the city's tourism industry in the time to come.

Former Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung has been invited to be the Honorary Chairman of the Fund. Chairman of the municipal Tourism Association Cao Tri Dung has been elected Chairman of the Fund Management Council, and General Director of the Viet Nam Travel Mart Company Nguyen Nhu Nam, has been Managing Director of the Fund.
